Controversial WWF 9/11 Ad Became Viral. WWF-Brazil Regrets Decision to Approve Video.
405 people read this post so far!Right before anniversary of 9/11 video which was created by WWF Brazil hit the web and became viral. Commercial which shows 9/11 terrorist attack and mention 2004 tsunami appeared on thousands blogs like Break or Adverblog and video sharing websites. In less than a day over 45 000 people watched it on YouTube, many of them discuss their outrage: “sad how people can exploit this tragedy so soon, or at all for that matter” posted BALLlSLlFE user from Canada.
On Tuesday, September 1, WWF Brazil posted apology message on their blog saying: “Due to the offensive nature of the message conveyed by the publicity piece, WWF-Brazil profoundly regrets this incident”.
WWF is famous for it’s provocative marketing strategies and way to shock public with environmental ads which designed to save environment and bring awareness to public. They work with different marketing companies around the world. Some of their ads bring sympathy and deliver great design and strong message to public. I posted in the past Creative Collection of WWF adsbut with 9/11 commercial they definitely went too far.
