I Got Fined $25 for Blogging…

September 04, 2009 By: Sergey Rusak Category: Submitted by Readers No Comments →

Very random post… Today I left office little earlier and drove my car through Downtown Boston. Heavy traffic made me think about some SEO articles I have read previously and I decided to reply with blog post. I parked near Boston Commons, paid $1 for an hour and ran to Starbucks across the street. So, stupid me, I got really exited writing new post and reading article about Shoemoney and SEO. Time passed quickly and on the way back I noticed orange ticket on my car, $25 to City of Boston for being 4 minutes late! Oh, well, I can’t even waive this ticket because “I was busy blogging” will be the most stupid excuse for parking violation in the Office of Parking Clerk.

Who Told That There is Nothing Left to Blog About? Look at People of Walmart!

September 04, 2009 By: Sergey Rusak Category: Ideas, Social Media No Comments →

My co-worker showed me the funniest blog ever, it called People of Walmart. It is photo blog with collection of images whith funny, wierd, crazy, and trashy people who shop in Walmart. From one side, it is a blog where you want to see every photo and read every post, but from another side it makes you realize ”OMG, we live in this country!”. My favorite shot is a photo of some redneck who shop in Walmart wearing “While You Were Reading This… I Farted” t-shirt.

As we learned, Phillip Garrido who kidnapped Jaycee Lee Dugard 18 years ago had a blog called Voices Revealed. Blog is hosted on Blogger Network which was sold to Google back in 2003. I was surprised to find that blog is still online and was not shut down. Now everyone are able to read his posts and leave comments. As of today, more than 600 people left comments with outrage and threats on his last post.

Washington Post Accused Blogger of Ripping off Article

August 28, 2009 By: Sergey Rusak Category: News, Social Media No Comments →

Last year Associated Press decided to sue bloggers who links and quote news articles from their site, unpopular move sparked a lot of debates in blogosphere and many blog sites boycotted AP.

Plagiarism: Ctrl C + Ctrl V

Washington Post decided to go the same way by accusing Gawker in plaigiarism. Apperently, Gawker Media writer qoted some parts of the article from Washington Post providing link back to original source. Gawker is a popular blog, not a splog which steal entire content, and many writers and web publishers will agree that link back from powerfull website gives extra visibility, higher traffic, and put original story on the next level of debates in social media. Washington Post and their writer Ian Shapira don’t think the same way, Shapira published another article with outrage to Gawker Media.
